You can control a lot of household items with Alexa on the Amazon Echo: lighting, security, music and the like are common choices. Now, appliance manufacturers are getting into the game. With “Geneva,” all GE WiFi Connect appliances will now respond to commands issued through Alexa.
Alexa will happily pass on your request that Geneva preheat the oven, heat up some water for tea, check the status of your water filter and other simple requests that shouldn’t necessitate getting off the couch, and now no longer do. It’s a good step toward establishing Amazon’s Echo/Alexa ecosystem as a whole-home automation solution.
